The tennis Blues took a big step towards topping their BUCS division after defeating Loughborough 2nds 10-2 on Wednesday.
At no. 1 singles, captain Tim Prossor carved out a 6-4 6-4 win. Despite not fully capitalising on his opponent’s weaker serve, Prossor’s pressure finally paid off and he broke serve once in each set to seal the win. At no. 2 singles, Neil Cordon continued his rich vein of form by comfortably winning 6-1 6-2.
Similarly at no. 3 singles, Sam Ashcroft took a while to find his range on his serve and forehand but eventually won 6-2 6-2 in an hour. At no. 4, Gerald Wu broke serve to stay in the first set and sealed the set in a tie-break. He breezed through the second set to win 7-6(0) 6-1.
At no. 1 doubles, Prossor and Ashcroft teamed up to win 6-1 6-1. On the back of solid serving, they offered their opponents no chance to get into the match. At no. 2, Cordon and Wu were undone by loose service games and lost 4-6 4-6.
