After a busy week of tennis – three matches no less – the tennis girls were looking to finish their BUCS league campaign in style, and they certainly did deliver!
The number 1 UEA player seemed so friendly that Anna felt rather disconcerted as her opponent – maybe it’s all a trick, she thought. However when a net cord in Anna’s favour was virtually applauded she realised that no, this was just a really nice girl. Niceness, though, doesn’t win tennis matches and Anna took no prisoners, ruthlessly winning the match 6-0 6-1.
Chloe got off to tentative start. However she was in it for the long run and after battling through to claim the first 6-4, she found her feet and easily took the second 6-1.
Megan completely outclassed her opponent from start to finish, allowing only one solitary game in her opponent’s favour – stingy – as she won 6-1 6-0.
Georgina had a similarly convincing win as stormed to a 6-0 6-3 victory. She admits hitting a few unforced errors in the second set but, hey, we’re only human after all.
Anna and Chloe teamed up once more and put on a convincing display of serving, volleying and all round attacking play. It was maybe too attacking for the UEA pair – Chloe narrowly missed causing a serious facial injury as her down the line winner whistled past the net player’s ear. Oops. Luckily all was taken in good humour!
Megan and Georgina also put on a serving master class and claimed a 6-2 6-2 victory.
Overall, a successful day! The girls were pleased with both their performances and their impressively co ordinated kit – shout out to PlayBrave – and we enter our cup matches with confidence of more success.
