Today we travelled to Coventry to play an away match – which should’ve been a home match – on a Sunday – when it should’ve been on a Wednesday.
Sad times for the girls in blue as the strength and depth of the Coventry squad proved too much to handle.
Leah’s opponent hit only one ball out of the court in their singles match – safe to say Leah did not come out triumphant but gave up a good fight in the second set as she lost 1-6, 4-6.
Chloe battled to the end in a three set epic and was extremely unlucky to be pipped at the post as she lost 7-5, 3-6, 5-7.
Megan was also unsuccessful as her opponent’s steady – if unorthodox – style resulted difficult to break as she lost 3-6, 6-7.
Doubles was a similar story, Anna and Chloe simply couldn’t find their normal form and failed to make an impact. The opponents’ net play was commendable yet one can’t help but feel that more could’ve been done to combat them as we lost 2-6, 4-6.
Leah and Megan fought through an intense match which ended in a third set tie break. Unfortunately, following the pattern of the day, they failed to claim the final few points and lost 4-6, 6-4, 7-10. The duo should be pleased with what was a performance filled with guts, determination and friendship.
